Staff roles & requirements

Lead Teacher

The Lead Teacher guides the heart of our program.
They ensure each day is safe, meaningful, and rooted in high-quality early childhood practice.

Role Responsibilities

  • Designs and leads our nature-based curriculum

  • Oversees daily safety, risk assessments, and site evaluations

  • Facilitates parent communication and family relationships

  • Supports reflective practice, seasonal planning, and child observations

  • Models best practices in outdoor learning and positive guidance

Qualifications

  • 12+ ECE units (or certificate/degree in ECE)

  • Experience in Early Childhood Education

  • Current CPR & First Aid certification (we provide this)

  • Mandated Reporter training

  • Confident in leading a group in all weather conditions

Assistant Teacher

The Assistant Teacher partners with the Lead Teacher to support joyful, safe exploration outdoors. This role is ideal for someone who loves nature, enjoys working with young children, and values a collaborative teaching environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Supports daily routines, play supervision, and transitions

  • Facilitates small-group learning and nature explorations

  • Helps document children’s learning (photos, notes, observations)

  • Contributes to setting up activities and maintaining a safe outdoor space

  • Builds warm, responsive relationships with children and families

Qualifications

  • At least 6 ECE units (or currently enrolled / in progress)

  • Interest or experience in nature play or outdoor learning

  • Current CPR & First Aid certification (we provide this)

  • Mandated Reporter training

  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather
